Crypto to the rescue! Digital remittances break all-time records in the country

Standing in long lines under the sun to cash remittances or begging an intermediary is, officially, a thing of the past.

A recent technology report on finance found that so far this year, more than $1.8 billion has entered Venezuela from the diaspora relying exclusively on cryptocurrency platforms and stable digital dollars (such as the well-known USDT).

The reason behind this mass adoption is purely mathematical and common sense: fees.

While a traditional transfer from Europe or the United States to Venezuela can cost between 5% and 10% of your relative's money in fees, sending balances through crypto platforms costs just a few cents, and the money reaches the cellphone in under three minutes, regardless of whether it is Sunday or the middle of the night.

What is most striking is how this has been integrated into the real economy.

The average Venezuelan no longer just saves on these platforms; he also uses the peer-to-peer (P2P) trading system or pago móvil to convert those digital dollars into bolívares within seconds, right before paying at the supermarket.

This decentralized flow has become the true invisible engine sustaining the consumption of millions of Venezuelan families.
