Representatives of the financial and energy sectors met at the Caracas Stock Exchange to debate alternative financing mechanisms for companies that supply the oil sector, according to Banca y Negocios.
During a forum organized by Merinvest Casa de Bolsa, attendees analyzed tools such as factoring and the securitization of receivables to expand access to funds in an industry that needs new sources of liquidity. The event included participants from brokerage firms and associations in the hydrocarbons sector.
The debate comes at a time when traditional bank lending remains limited in reach for companies. According to the outlet Runrunes, the banking system closed July with a loan portfolio of close to $4 billion.
In parallel, investment needs for extraction projects in the country call for very large sums. According to a report published by El Nacional, GeoPark plans to invest $6.8 billion in the Bare field.
Given these figures, the panelists noted that the stock market represents a potential channel for directing resources toward the medium- and long-term operational expansion of companies linked to the energy sector.
