Venezuela's food retail sector is entering a new phase of operational transformation and territorial expansion.

Venezuela's food retail sector is entering a new phase of operational transformation and territorial expansion. According to the portal Descifrado, the National Association of Supermarkets and Self-Service Stores (ANSA) reported the opening of 77 new supermarkets nationwide so far in 2026, including 10 outlets in Zulia state and four in Monagas state.
This growth in the retail sector reflects the adoption of innovative business models in the region and the interest of international companies in assessing the local market. In an interview broadcast on the Televen channel, the association's president, Ítalo Atencio, said that two foreign firms are evaluating possible investments in the country.
Alongside the store openings, the commercial sector maintains high indicators of product availability on shelves. According to data published by the outlet Contrapunto, the supply of basic necessity goods stood at 98%, with 90% of items manufactured or processed domestically.
This commercial momentum is linked to the macroeconomic outlook for the coming years. According to reports in El Nacional citing projections by Ecoanalítica, the Venezuelan economy will grow by more than 10% in 2027, driven by investment in idle oil wells, while U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright recently highlighted energy investment as a key driver of the country's economic recovery.
