Science and Technology Minister Yván Gil met with representatives of the Compañía Anónima Nacional Teléfonos de Venezuela (Cantv) and Movilnet to strengthen the country's telecommunications services, according to the portal AlbertoNews on October 1, 2026.
According to the information released, the meeting was used to evaluate plans aimed at expanding and consolidating the main telecommunications networks serving citizens. Major General Iván Rafael Hernández Dala took part on behalf of Cantv, and Engineer Aníbal Briceño represented the Movilnet team.
These actions are part of an agenda aimed at promoting connectivity and national technological development. Earlier, in July, authorities had already reviewed progress on Movilnet's operational plan to optimize telecommunications infrastructure and expand the technical capabilities of the state-owned operator.
Recent projects aim to connect systems to Cantv's Festoon submarine cable, an infrastructure designed to improve connectivity and reduce latency to digital content relevant to users in the country. With this expansion, the networks seek to achieve greater transmission capacity and faster responses in local digital connections.
