Designation of new Venezuelan Supreme Tribunal of Justice justices moves forward
The National Assembly of 2015 formally launched the procedure for designating all the justices of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ).

According to AlbertoNews, on Friday, September 18, 2026, the National Assembly of 2015 formally launched the procedure for designating all the justices of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ). The step follows the publication in the Official Gazette of the reform of Article 65 of the Organic Law of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice.
The announcement falls within the second round of the negotiating table between the interim government and the parliamentary representation, a process aimed at restructuring the justice system and strengthening institutions. According to the statement issued by the National Assembly of 2015, renewing these bodies seeks to lay the groundwork for a professional and autonomous judiciary.
For the average citizen, the functioning of the judicial system directly affects the certainty of contracts, the protection of private property and the resolution of commercial disputes. However, the practical scope of these legislative decisions operates in a context of institutional duality, where authorities with international recognition coexist with powers that hold effective administrative control of the state.
The effectiveness of any judicial reform as a driver of economic recovery and the attraction of capital depends on the real capacity for implementation that emerges from political agreements. Going forward, it will be necessary to watch whether this designation process manages to move beyond the regulatory sphere and transform the legal certainty environment for investment and productive development in the country.
