Banco Exterior outpaces system average in assets and equity

Banco Exterior recorded year-on-year growth in assets and equity above the banking system average as of the end of September 2026, according to a report from the specialized portal Banca y Negocios, which publishes figures from the consultancy Aristimuño Herrera & Asociados.

According to data released by the portal, the entity's total assets reached 74,194 million bolívares ($86.4 million), an increase of 555.6% in bolívares and 36% in dollars compared with September 2025. Equity stood at 16,941.6 million bolívares ($19.7 million), with a year-on-year rise of 667.6% in bolívares and 59% in dollars. The very large increases expressed in the national currency mainly reflect the country's inflation and nominal dynamics, while the changes in dollars point to a more stable, real expansion of the institution.

In terms of lending, Banco Exterior's loan portfolio stood at 40,312.2 million bolívares ($46.9 million), with year-on-year growth of 572.7% in bolívares and 39% in dollars at the close of the third quarter, according to the Banca y Negocios report. The report also notes that financial intermediation stood at 89.2%, well above the average for the banking sector as a whole, reflecting that a significant share of deposits is being channeled into financing.

For the economy as a whole, the level of intermediation and the recovery of credit are key factors for the working capital of firms, in an environment where the International Monetary Fund projects real GDP growth of 4.0% for the close of 2026. Going forward, it will be necessary to watch whether banks sustain this pace of lending and how delinquency evolves, which at Banco Exterior stood at 1.2% at the close of the period.
