BCV and banks weigh monetary policy steps in Venezuela
The Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) and representatives of the public and private banking sectors held a working meeting to assess progress in permanent technical coordination.

The Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) and representatives of the public and private banking sectors held a working meeting to assess progress in permanent technical coordination, according to the portal Banca y Negocios, on October 14, 2026. The session was led by the central bank's president, Luis Pérez González, with the aim of promoting confidence in the national currency and ensuring the functioning of the foreign exchange market.
During the monthly meeting, authorities reviewed the upgrading of the financial sector's technology platforms to preserve the operability of the system. These reviews seek to optimize the channels through which monetary policy is transmitted in an environment shaped by exchange rate dynamics and price developments in the Venezuelan economy.
In this context, the portal Contrapunto reported that the official exchange rate set by the BCV stood at 877.90 bolívares per dollar, while the euro was at 982.75 bolívares. For its part, the portal Descifrado noted that the Public Spending Observatory of Cedice Libertad put September's monthly inflation at 12.05% in bolívares and 3.67% in dollars, driven mainly by the food category.
Coordination between the central bank and banking institutions points to constant monitoring of macroeconomic variables in pursuit of stability in the national financial system. The BCV reaffirmed its commitment to holding periodic meetings with the banking sector to secure economic objectives and promote the well-being of the population.
