Urgent Care has generated $70 million in savings for Venezuela's private health system

Venezuela's private health system has saved more than $70 million over the past three years by treating medical emergencies in specialized rooms of the Urgent Care service of Venemergencia

The rapid-care model, known as Urgent Care, aims to offer medical services at a lower cost for patients compared with traditional clinics. The price difference reflects the operating structure of these facilities, which are designed to resolve less complex consultations without the fixed costs of general hospitalization.

When this model began operating in 2023, treating a medical emergency at a private clinic cost a minimum of around 1,500 dollars, according to information published by Bitácora Económica. By contrast, the same care through the platform mentioned is offered for between 320 and 350 dollars, which reduces spending almost fivefold compared with conventional clinical centers.

These private health care initiatives operate in a context marked by the limitations of the public health system, where operational difficulties persist at various centers across the country. While the private sector promotes alternatives to lower costs for outpatient cases, access to these options remains conditioned by patients' ability to pay in a dollarized market.
