The pharmaceutical laboratory Calox International denounced the usurpation of its corporate identity on the messaging app Telegram, according to the portal Banca y Negocios. In an official statement, the company identified a user named @calox12 for offering false investment opportunities and supposed returns using the organization's name.
Identity usurpation on digital platforms seeks to deceive unwary users by impersonating well-known brands to simulate legitimate transactions. In the corporate sphere, this type of digital fraud tends to exploit instant messaging channels because of their immediacy and the relative anonymity that fake profiles allow, which makes it harder to initially trace the operators behind the scam.
In light of this situation, the company made clear that it has no relationship with that account or with the financial activities it promotes. The pharmaceutical firm also noted that all of its public offerings in the securities market are carried out in strict compliance with the requirements set by the Superintendencia Nacional de Valores (Sunaval) and are formally listed on the Caracas Stock Exchange.
The affected company reiterated that it does not solicit funds from the public or offer investment schemes via Telegram or social media. For this reason, it urged users to ignore these offers, avoid making money transfers, and report the fraudulent profile on the platform itself to prevent further cases of scam.
