Trump floats meeting with Putin and Xi in China to address nuclear conflict

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is willing to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping next month in China, according to Yahoo News.

The possible meeting would take place on the sidelines of the summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in the Chinese city of Shenzhen. Trump said the meeting would focus on nuclear weapons and denuclearization, although he indicated that the war in Ukraine could also be addressed.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the topic of a hypothetical meeting has been raised given the possible attendance of the three heads of state, although he noted that no proposals or substantive agreements have yet been discussed. For its part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reacted with rejection to the possibility of a meeting without Kyiv's participation.

On the energy and trade front linked to the region, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the US government will hold talks with representatives of India's conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited about refining Venezuelan oil, according to Bitácora Económica.
