US grants $150,000 to train students at Central University of Venezuela

The US State Department has awarded a $150,000 grant to the organization Miyamoto Global Disaster Relief. The funds are intended to finance a joint program between the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) and Arizona State University aimed at the academic training of young professionals in the country.

Through this bilateral partnership, the initiative seeks to teach Venezuelan students in key areas such as earthquake engineering, the development of resilient infrastructure and modern mechanisms for disaster prevention. The agreement aims to strengthen technical preparedness for possible natural emergencies through the exchange of specialized knowledge between the two universities.

The academic integration will allow participants to access advanced methodologies in structural calculation and design. The main goal is to generate technical solutions suited to the geographic and urban challenges of the region, strengthening the capacity to respond to possible seismic events and prioritizing resilient infrastructure as a fundamental pillar of sustainable development.

Officials from the US government spokesperson's office highlighted their continued commitment to building local human capital during this technical phase of the project. Representatives of the initiative said they continue to invest in Venezuelan talent and in economic recovery under a three-phase framework promoted by the US government.
