U.S. receives 15,000 metric tons of Venezuelan aluminum

The United States received a first strategic shipment of 15,000 metric tons of Venezuelan aluminum, according to the AlbertoNews portal, which reported the delivery on Monday following the normalization of bilateral relations between the two countries.

In an interview with Fox News, U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said the metal is a key input for the automotive industry, the manufacture of household appliances and everyday electronic devices.

The resumption of this trade flow comes at a time when the Venezuelan economy faces severe structural challenges, reflected in institutional weaknesses and limits on trade freedom that restrict companies' capacity to invest, according to a report published by El Nacional.

For the U.S. economy, the arrival of the material aims to secure stable supplies for essential industrial sectors, from electricity transmission lines to commercial aviation, according to a U.S. government official.

The resumption of shipments marks a precedent in the exchange of raw materials between the two nations, a process that will continue under the scrutiny of international markets in the coming months.
