Venezuela's central bank takes part in IMF meeting in Bangkok

The Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) is taking part in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group being held in Bangkok, Thailand, according to the financial news portal Banca y Negocios. The gathering, scheduled for October 12 to 18, 2026, brings together economic officials from various countries to debate monetary policy and financial regulation.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the institution reaffirmed its membership in the 121st Meeting of Governors and Assembly of the Center for Latin American Monetary Studies (CEMLA), a regional body that groups together 52 central banks, according to information published by the financial outlet. The working agenda of the sessions includes technical discussions on the implementation of artificial intelligence in central banking and a review of the body's global governance.

For the national monetary authority, these multilateral forums serve as a mechanism for evaluating international practices in exchange-rate matters and opening spaces for technical cooperation. The presence in Thailand adds to the country's participation in meetings of the Group of Twenty-Four (G24), which focuses on development and international monetary affairs.
