Brent crude snaps five-session rally, falls to $104.61 a barrel

The price of Brent crude for November delivery broke a five-session winning streak on Friday, September 11, 2026. According to reports from the news portals La Patilla and Contrapunto, the European benchmark crude fell 2.81% to close the session at $104.61 a barrel on the London futures market.

Brent is the main indicator for crude markets in Europe and serves as a key benchmark for exports from several Latin American countries. A decline of this magnitude reflects how traders' expectations shift rapidly in response to geopolitical factors and global demand, particularly amid persistent tensions in the Middle East, a region crucial to the transit and production of hydrocarbons.

According to data published by Contrapunto, the drop represented an absolute loss of $3.02 a barrel from the previous session. This downward move interrupts the upward trend that had consolidated over the course of the week, underscoring the structural volatility that characterizes the international energy market.

For fuel-importing economies, relief in oil prices can translate into less pressure on domestic prices for gasoline and transport, temporarily easing inflation. Conversely, for producing nations, every dollar the barrel drops directly reduces the fiscal revenue projected to finance public spending and social programs.

In the coming days, analysts will keep a close eye on the evolution of geopolitical conflicts and on production decisions by the main exporting countries, factors that will determine whether this decline is a passing adjustment or the start of a longer downward trend.
