WTI oil rises 2.06% to $93.74 a barrel

West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 2.06% and closed at $93.74 a barrel on October 12, 2026, according to the Banca y Negocios portal. The gain in November delivery futures contracts reflects a climate of geopolitical tension, after attacks on infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and new strikes against the energy grid in Ukraine.

Energy markets react quickly to threats against production and distribution chains. When risk escalates in strategic areas, traders build risk premiums into futures contracts, which pushes international crude prices higher.

In Venezuela's economy, the evolution of crude prices directly affects the inflow of foreign currency and overall economic activity. According to data published by Crónica Uno, oil sector dynamism will drive economic growth of 6.8% by year-end, in an environment supported by a $15.95 billion injection into the foreign-exchange market.

For the private sector and citizens, higher oil prices expand the foreign currency available, although the context of high domestic inflation keeps the pressure on to cut costs and raise productivity to preserve operations.

In the coming weeks, the key will be to monitor the state of global energy infrastructure and the performance of currencies in the domestic market.
