Belize's cruise tourism rises 12% but leaves little local revenue

The Belize Tourism Board reported the arrival of 850,000 cruise passengers in the half-year.

However, local merchant associations complained that 85% of passengers' spending stays with the transnational shipping companies that run private excursions.
