International companies prepare new energy deals in Venezuela

International oil companies and investors are moving forward with the signing of new energy agreements in Venezuela, according to Albertonews, which reported this on September 2, 2026. The migration of contracts seeks to adapt operations to the new terms under the oil reform approved in January.

Among the planned operations, the U.S. oil company Chevron plans to invest more than $7 billion to expand its joint ventures with PDVSA, according to information published by Albertonews. For its part, KEO Capital reached an agreement for the joint venture Petrourdaneta with PDVSA that includes a $350 million credit facility, the same outlet reported.

On the political and institutional front, El Nacional reported that the agreement operates as a private structure designed by the United States to encourage investment in Venezuela's energy sector, according to statements gathered on the process.

The arrival of these players seeks to revitalize the oil infrastructure of the South American country after years of contraction in crude output and operational financial constraints.

Analysts note that the effectiveness of these investments will depend on long-term legal stability and the real operational capacity to recover the historical production levels in the region.
