Chile's 2026 growth forecast cut to 0.2% by experts

Specialists surveyed by the Central Bank project that gross domestic product (GDP) will grow 0.2% in 2026, a decline from the 0.7% estimated in September, according to CNN Chile. This measurement is part of the Economic Expectations Survey (EEE) for October.

The cumulative deterioration in the projections spans several consecutive months. The median forecast for 2026 stood at 1.6% in June, fell to 1.3% in August and continued down to 0.7% in September, a cumulative cut of 1.4 percentage points since mid-year.

The largest correction among the macroeconomic aggregates was recorded in gross fixed capital formation, the indicator that measures total investment in the national economy. The median forecast for 2026 fell sharply from 5.5% in September to 0.3% in October, an adjustment of 5.2 percentage points.

Against this backdrop of contracting investment and a general slowdown, analysts expect the monetary policy rate to hold at 4.5% at upcoming meetings and to close at that same level in December 2026.
