The national government and the 2015 National Assembly will conclude the third round of dialogue this Wednesday, focused on political and civil guarantees ahead of a possible electoral process in Venezuela, within the framework of the transition promoted by the United States, according to Diario El Oriental. So far, no details have emerged about possible agreements reached in these new contacts, which began last Wednesday with the aim of advancing respect for civil rights and the renewal of Venezuela's institutions.
The delegations had already held preliminary meetings in August and September to advance reforms of the justice system, a process that includes the complete renewal of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ). These negotiating forums also address key economic and trade issues, such as the release of gold held in England, the lifting of restrictions on news websites and other measures aimed at freedom of expression and the free flow of information.
The current process gained momentum after the meeting held on October 9 in Washington between Dinorah Figuera, leader of the opposition delegation in the dialogue, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who urged continued progress on political freedoms and electoral reform.
