The government and representatives of the National Assembly elected in 2015 installed their third round of political dialogue on Wednesday at the Hotel Meliá Caracas to advance the renewal of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice and define electoral guarantees, according to the portal AlbertoNews.
The government delegation is led by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, while Dinorah Figuera takes part for the opposition delegation. The process seeks to consolidate agreements on political and civil matters following earlier rounds of negotiations.
Among the central items on the agenda is the renewal of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice. The Parliament's preliminary commission, chaired by Giuseppe Alessandrello, has begun interviewing candidates to sit on the Judicial Nominations Committee, whose final slates are expected to be presented in early December.
This dialogue process follows a previous round that concluded on September 25, in which the parties agreed to create a Credentials Review Council and endorsed administrative measures concerning digital media.
