Greta Thunberg joins student protests in France

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg joined student protests in France on October 13, 2026, according to the outlet Amp. The 23-year-old went to the Paul-Eluard secondary school in Saint-Denis, on the outskirts of Paris, where she met with a group of lawyers to organize a chain of lawyers' robes in support of the students.

Student mobilizations have been under way for weeks across French territory to demand change and voice discontent with current policies. These protests are part of the recurring social tensions in the country's education sector, where young people often organize through unions and local groups to make their demands visible to government authorities.

During her visit to the outskirts of the French capital, Thunberg attended a meeting convened by the Unión Sindical de los Liceos (USL). Marius Mesnil, co-secretary general of the organization, welcomed the activist's presence, saying that the addition of more people strengthens the movement as a whole.

In Paris, the main march was called for 2:00 p.m., with a route running from Place d'Italie to Les Invalides, an area near the seat of government and the Ministry of Education. Student groups have kept up their calls through digital platforms under slogans critical of the lack of institutional response.
