Grupo Nutresa completes acquisition of Tío Rico in Venezuela

Grupo Nutresa completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Industrias Tío Rico C.A. and formally took control of the Venezuelan ice cream company, according to the portal AlbertoNews.

The deal is part of the regional expansion strategy of the Colombian conglomerate, which is controlled by Grupo Gilinski. The closing of the transaction was announced on October 28, after the acquisition, first announced months earlier, was subject to the fulfillment of conditions agreed between the parties.

The purchase strengthens Nutresa's presence in Venezuela's food market, at a time when Colombian business groups have again begun to show interest in the country. According to information published by AlbertoNews, in the first half of 2026 the conglomerate recorded revenue of 10.3 trillion Colombian pesos, a 2.4% increase year on year, while its EBITDA reached 1.95 trillion pesos, up 32%.

The expansion strategy has also included recent acquisitions in Colombia and Ecuador, consolidating the Venezuelan market as a key piece of the company's regional plans in Latin America.
