Guatemala: basic food basket rises 7.2% as informal minimum wage falls short

Guatemala's National Statistics Institute (INE) reported that the cost of the Basic Food Basket (CBA) reached 4,150 quetzales a month (about $543), recording a 7.2% annual increase. The rise in corn and bean prices hits hard the 68% of the labor force that works in the informal sector without social protection.
