Halliburton signs agreements with Eneva and Wesca in Venezuela

The U.S. company Halliburton signed memorandums of understanding with Brazil's Eneva and Venezuela's Wesca to explore and develop projects in the Venezuelan energy sector, according to reports by the newspapers El Nacional and Worldoil. The agreements aim to identify new opportunities in an industry that is beginning to attract renewed international interest.

The agreement with Eneva, one of the leading natural gas operators in Brazil, builds on the prior relationship the two companies maintain in that country and points to the search for energy assets. For its part, the alliance with the local firm Wesca will focus on evaluating reservoirs and planning development through the use of digital technologies and subsurface interpretation.

According to Worldoil, Halliburton did not disclose investment amounts, specific oil or gas fields, or implementation timelines associated with these memorandums. The U.S. multinational, which has nearly nine decades of operating history in the Caribbean country, is betting on contributing its infrastructure and technical capacity for the characterization of reserves.

For Venezuela's energy infrastructure, the incorporation of digital technology and specialized technical support represents a key step in the effort to recover operating efficiency. In the coming months, it will be necessary to watch whether these declarations of intent translate into concrete projects and under what regulatory conditions they will be carried out.
