More interest in doing business than in politics in Venezuela

Venezuelans show greater interest in pursuing commercial activities than in taking part in political life, said Colombian entrepreneur and investor Andrés Bilbao in an interview published by Bloomberg Línea.

Bilbao, one of the founders of Rappi, said during a business meeting in Caracas that there is a growing willingness among entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in the local market and to move past divided expectations about the country's future. The investor stressed that the optimism is not limited to new ventures but also involves established companies seeking to grow despite the uncertainty.

The business dynamism in certain sectors contrasts with the general situation of Venezuelan households, where the cost of living continues to weigh on incomes. According to figures published by the newspaper Descifrado on October 22, 2026, the average family food basket reached $761.35 in September, an increase of 0.79% from the $755.36 recorded in August.
