Venezuela's oil and gas sector projects investments of $76 billion over the next five years, according to El Nacional. The estimates were presented during the closing of the Second Energy, Oil and Gas Conference (CEPEG 2026) and the Zulia Energy Forum, events organized in Maracaibo by the Venezuelan Oil Chamber with the participation of more than 150 national and international companies.
The gathering brought together operators and service providers focused on reviewing well optimization plans, operational reliability and natural gas infrastructure. The event was attended by Minister of Hydrocarbons Paula Henao and Zulia State Governor Luis Caldera, as well as a live video link with the acting president, PDVSA President Héctor Obregón, and Sectoral Vice President for Administration and Digital Government Anabel Pereira.
According to El Nacional, the projected volume of capital will drive job creation in the oil and gas areas over the next decade. This operational momentum comes as exports of Venezuelan crude to the United States rose 170% driven by Citgo, according to figures published by the same outlet.
The development of the national hydrocarbons industry maintains direct coordination between the government and business chambers to ensure compliance with current hydrocarbons regulations. Authorities and investors are evaluating the financing schemes and technological development needed to revive production in the region.
