President Javier Milei will seek to close a series of trade agreements in Paris this week and attract investment for energy, mining and infrastructure projects, according to Infobae, which reported on September 28, 2026. The Argentine president will take part in the Argentina Week event to present the economic reforms of his administration to business leaders and European authorities.
The trip comes within the framework of the Andes-Atlantic Corridor, an infrastructure initiative recently signed with the United States that envisages disbursements of up to $7 billion in 2027 aimed at developing liquefied natural gas. This logistics and transport corridor also includes the concession of the Belgrano Cargas railway, privatized to connect the areas producing critical minerals with the country's export ports.
The financial context in which the trip takes place presents challenges for access to international credit and the placement of debt. According to the country risk index compiled by J.P. Morgan, the indicator stood at 588 basis points in March 2026, gradually fell to 419 basis points in July, and was at 465 basis points in August. Each basis point equals one hundredth of a percentage point in the yield on sovereign bonds relative to U.S. Treasury securities.
The official strategy aims to consolidate foreign trade partners to sustain productive activity and secure external financing. Going forward, it will be necessary to watch how European investors respond to the privatization proposals and the progress of mining and energy projects in the short term.
