JetSMART weighs entry into Venezuela's airline market
Low-cost carrier JetSMART is evaluating its entry into the Venezuelan market as part of its expansion plan in the region.

Low-cost carrier JetSMART is evaluating its entry into the Venezuelan market as part of its expansion plan in the region, according to Bitácora Económica, which reported it on its Instagram account.
The multinational company, headquartered in Chile, has asked Colombia's Civil Aeronautics authority for approval to operate the Medellín-Caracas route with daily flights. The request is part of a commercial exploration process and does not imply a definitive decision on whether operations will begin.
JetSMART's chief executive, Estuardo Ortiz, told the outlet El Aéreo that the company is closely following the restoration of air connectivity in Venezuela. He cautioned, however, that various technical and regulatory conditions must still be met before the company commits to an investment in the country.
Operators' interest in the region reflects plans to evaluate new commercial routes between Colombia and Venezuela.
