The IBEX 35, Spain's main stock index, opened Tuesday with gains of 0.47% and rose above 19,300 points, according to Infobae. The rise puts the index at 19,371.9 points at the start of the session.
The move comes despite sharp losses in Asian markets driven by the technology sector. It also coincides with expectations in the United States ahead of the imminent start of earnings reports from the big banks.
Year to date, the index is up 11.93%, according to data published by the outlet. This performance reflects the market's temporary resilience in the face of international turbulence.
Meanwhile, in energy markets, Brent (the benchmark crude in Europe) fell 1.25% to $105.32 a barrel. The decline in oil prices comes despite persistent tensions in the Middle East and a broad decline in bond yields.
