Company acquisitions in Argentina rise 31% in value

Corporate acquisitions and sales in Argentina rose 31% in value during the first nine months of 2026, bucking the downward trend seen across the rest of Latin America, according to Bloomberg Línea.

According to the outlet, the country recorded a total of 203 transactions worth $6,515 million between January and September this year. The number of deals also grew 4% compared with the same period a year earlier.

This performance makes Argentina the only one of the region's six main markets to post simultaneous increases in both the number of transactions and the value involved. Across Latin America as a whole, deal numbers fell 26% and total value dropped 5%, with 1,720 transactions worth $78,812 million, according to the data published.

Investment activity is concentrated especially in key sectors such as energy, mining and telecommunications infrastructure. In this context, the Vaca Muerta area continues to drive significant corporate moves, with notable deals such as Vista Energy's acquisition of Equinor's assets.

For its part, El Cronista reported that the economic agenda also includes efforts to unlock $10 billion in private investment within new financing negotiations, while the market watches the trajectory of macroeconomic indicators and the country risk measured by J.P. Morgan.
