Marco Rubio backs dialogue in Venezuela
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says dialogue is the ideal path to securing a lasting democracy in Venezuela, one in which all political actors can take part in a future presidential election.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the conditions that allowed María Corina Machado to return to Venezuela are the result of reconciliation talks backed by Washington and coordinated with Miraflores.
Rubio said the process has contributed to the release of hundreds of political prisoners and the return of opposition leaders, and argued that it represents an opportunity to move toward free elections and a lasting democracy through peaceful means.
