More than 12,000 runners took part on Sunday in the 25th edition of the Gatorade Caracas Rock, one of the most traditional sporting events in the Venezuelan capital, according to the outlet AlbertoNews.
To allow the race to proceed, local authorities implemented temporary road closures at various points across the city. The course covered key areas such as Las Mercedes, Chuao, the Prados del Este highway and a section of Terrazas del Club Hípico, combining main avenues and urban zones.
The event has established itself as an important recreational gathering that draws athletes of different categories and ages, promoting physical activity in the municipality. With this edition, the race reaches a quarter century of consecutive editions on the country's urban circuit.
The organizers said the competition includes cash incentives for winners in the various categories. Participants who finish first in the men's and women's divisions receive a cash prize of 2,200 dollars, while those in second and third place receive 1,800 and 1,500 dollars, respectively.
