Movistar sets up temporary classroom for 140 children in La Guaira

Fundación Telefónica Movistar opened a Temporary Classroom in the OPP 74 community of Los Corales II, in Venezuela's La Guaira state, to support the educational continuity of 140 children affected by the June 24 earthquakes, according to the portal Banca y Negocios.

The project involved fitting out a space furnished with desks and teaching materials to simulate a classroom, allowing students to keep up their studies while repairs to schools in the area continue. At the opening, Antonio Valente, president of Movistar Venezuela, said the initiative aims to contribute to community development through inclusive and accessible education in emergency contexts.

The space will host educational activities on an ongoing basis for at least six months, thanks to joint work among the community, local teachers and volunteers. The agenda includes strengthening academic skills, digital literacy and social-emotional support for the children.

The intervention comes amid a context in which local trade groups and outlets such as Contrapunto warn that the effects of the earthquake persist and the emergency has not fully ended in the region, forcing affected sectors to rely on community initiatives and private support while infrastructure recovery advances only partially.
