S&P affirms Panama's investment-grade rating
S&P Global Ratings affirmed Panama's investment-grade rating of BBB- with a stable outlook on September 25, 2026, according to the Banca y Negocios portal.

S&P Global Ratings affirmed Panama's investment-grade rating of BBB- with a stable outlook on September 25, 2026, according to the Banca y Negocios portal.
The decision is based on the continuity of economic policies and the expected reduction of the fiscal deficit in the coming years, factors that will allow the burden of debt and its interest payments to stabilize.
Panama's gross domestic product (GDP) growth will hover around 4.5% in 2026 and settle at 4% between 2027 and 2029, driven by activity at the Panama Canal, private construction, tourism and air transport, according to the agency's projections cited by the outlet.
This fiscal stability and the decline in risk premiums allowed the country to access international markets at the beginning of the year, as part of its liability management strategy.
