Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings agreed to buy AT&T's mobile business in Mexico for $2 billion, according to the outlet Amp.

Grupo Televisa and Fintech Holdings agreed to buy AT&T's mobile business in Mexico for $2 billion, according to the outlet Amp. The deal, announced on October 14, 2026, marks the exit of the US company from the Mexican market after more than a decade of investment.
According to information published by Amp, each partner will hold 50% of the acquiring consortium, and the acquisition will be financed with cash and secured debt. AT&T said the price will be paid in cash at closing, subject to adjustments, and the transaction is pending regulatory approvals to close in the first quarter of 2027.
The mobile operator had 24.7 million subscribers at the end of 2025, according to figures reported by Televisa to the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores and cited by Amp. It also posted revenue of 85.4 billion pesos (equivalent to $4,744.4 million) and operating profit of 1.4 billion pesos ($77.8 million).
With this purchase, the structure of the Mexican mobile market is being reshaped to compete with Telcel, of América Móvil. The deal adds to the internet, cable television and telephone services that Televisa already sells, while AT&T justified its exit by saying it aims to concentrate resources in the United States to expand its fiber optic and 5G networks.
