Trump highlights relationship with Venezuela and oil flow

U.S. President Donald Trump praised his relationship with the authorities in Venezuela following the political changes registered in January 2026, according to the portal AlbertoNews. At an event in the state of Ohio, the U.S. president said Washington is receiving a significant amount of Venezuelan oil as a result of the agreements reached with acting president Delcy Rodríguez.

The capture of Nicolás Maduro in January opened the way to a process of diplomatic and commercial rapprochement that included a meeting between Trump and Rodríguez in September, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. This rapprochement facilitated the signing of new agreements on hydrocarbons between the two nations.

On the economic front, these licenses and the oil flow are boosting growth expectations for the country. According to data published by Crónica Uno, economist Asdrúbal Oliveros projects economic expansion of 6.8% by year-end, supported by an injection of $15.95 billion into the foreign exchange market.

For its part, projections from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), reported by El Nacional, put Venezuela's economic growth at 5.0% for 2026 and 7.0% for 2027, accompanied by a slowdown in inflation that would average 174%.
