Trump snubs María Corina and the opposition in New York
Fernando del Rincón (CNN) suggested to Juan Pablo Guanipa that the new international scenario is pulling the spotlight away from the Venezuelan opposition, while Delcy Rodríguez gains diplomatic ground in New York.

CNN en Español journalist Fernando del Rincón put it to Juan Pablo Guanipa that Venezuela's new international scenario was pushing the opposition out of the center of attention, while Delcy Rodríguez gains diplomatic ground in New York.
The role played by the Venezuelan opposition in the country's new political and diplomatic landscape was one of the central points of an interview Fernando del Rincón conducted with opposition leader Juan Pablo Guanipa, broadcast by CNN en Español on Tuesday.
Amid Delcy Rodríguez's participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Del Rincón offered a critical reading of the contrast between the international exposure of Venezuela's acting president and the situation of opposition leaders such as María Corina Machado.
During the conversation, the journalist said:
"I see Donald Trump very comfortable with Delcy Rodríguez. It seems the roles have been reversed, it seems the opposition is the one that should not be taken into account."
Del Rincón added that, from his perspective, there is a contrast between the treatment Machado received in Washington and the international prominence Rodríguez is currently enjoying in New York.
"María Corina Machado entered the White House through the back door, while Delcy Rodríguez is at the UN and is going to meet with him with more attention and formality."
The journalist concluded his point by saying: "I think the opposition is being humiliated."
These statements come at a particularly significant moment for Venezuela. Rodríguez arrived in New York to take part in the UN General Assembly and was scheduled to meet with Donald Trump, in what amounts to a new direct contact between Washington and Caracas.
