The best pizza in the world is on Margarita Island
Portarossa, a pizzeria located in Pampatar (Nueva Esparta), was once again included among the best in Latin America in the 2026 edition of the 50 Top Pizza ranking, according to Diario Primicia, which reported it on September 23, 2026.

Portarossa, a pizzeria located in Pampatar (Nueva Esparta), was once again included among the best in Latin America in the 2026 edition of the 50 Top Pizza ranking, according to Diario Primicia.
The establishment earned ninth place in the regional ranking and placed 51st on the list of the world's 100 best pizzerias. The recognition was announced on September 15 in Naples, Italy, and made the Margarita-based restaurant the only Venezuelan representative in the global selection.
Founded in 2016 by María Tavares, the restaurant specializes in Neapolitan pizza and incorporates local products from the island into its offering. Tavares graduated in systems engineering and later completed a master's degree in baking before opening the restaurant at age 29, obtaining in 2017 certification from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana.
The 50 Top Pizza ranking is based on an anonymous, independent evaluation system, which prevents establishments from knowing in advance when food inspectors will visit.
