Venavega and Conferry forge maritime transport partnership

The Venezuelan Navigation Corporation (Venavega) and Conferry signed a strategic interinstitutional alliance to transfer the nautical, technical and commercial management of the Paraguaná High-Speed Vessel, according to the portal Banca y Negocios on October 20, 2026. The agreement seeks to optimize the provision of maritime transport services for passengers, cargo and recreational activities within national territory.

The accord aims to achieve greater efficiency in the movement of roll-on/roll-off cargo and passengers, integrating services and pursuing more sustained operation over time. This river and coastal shipping infrastructure is key to complementing Venezuela's domestic connectivity, especially in light of the logistical challenges that have historically confronted the country's commercial and tourist routes.

Conferry has gone through a prolonged process of nationalization and restructuring marked by operational challenges and technical limitations in its fleet. The transfer of management to Venavega is presented as an institutional attempt to revive the operability of the vessels and boost commercial exchange between the mainland and the island regions.
