Venezuela ranks third in regularization applications in Spain

Venezuela ranked as the third-largest source of applications in Spain's extraordinary regularization process for migrants, accounting for 11.8% of registered files, according to Spanish government data released on Monday and distributed by the portal AlbertoNews.

According to official information compiled by the portal, Colombia leads the list with 25.9% of applications, followed by Morocco with 13.3%. Together, these three nationalities account for 51% of all applications filed under this special procedure, which was launched to channel the administrative situation of thousands of foreigners.

The process allows migrants to obtain legal residence and a work permit on equal terms, which facilitates their formal entry into the labor market and their subsequent contributions to the social welfare system of the European country.

After the top three nationalities, the list continues with Peru (8.8%), Honduras (4.8%), Paraguay (3.8%), Algeria (3.4%), Senegal (2.9%), Pakistan (2.5%) and Argentina (2.3%).

Separately, official records for the end of September show that 71,999 Venezuelans were already registered with Spain's Social Security system, the second-highest figure by nationality in this category, behind only Colombia.
