Venezuela projects chicken output to top 900,000 tons in 2026

Domestic chicken production will exceed 900,000 tons by the end of this year, Banca y Negocios reported, citing comments from Francisco Tagliapietra, president of the National Poultry Federation of Venezuela (Fenavi). The figure consolidates a phase of expansion for the local productive sector, which seeks to move from recovery toward export competitiveness by 2030.

The domestic poultry sector fully supplies internal consumption, which is estimated at 32 kilograms per capita a year, surpassing the historical consumption levels recorded in 2013. This trend in the domestic market is calculated on an estimated population of 28,500,000 people, while egg consumption stands at 200 units per person annually.

To sustain this increase in productive activity, industry players face logistical challenges linked to the supply of construction inputs, such as cement and concrete, as well as constant access to the electricity needed to operate poultry facilities.

As part of its medium-term expansion strategy, the Federation plans to launch a pilot program to export chicken meat and eggs to the islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, laying the groundwork for placing domestic production in foreign markets before the end of the decade.
