Venezuela is close to entering the top 11 of world green coffee production when the 2026 harvest ends, according to the portal Banca y Negocios.
According to the information published by the outlet, based on statements from the president of the Federación Nacional de Caficultores de Venezuela, Andrés Álvarez, national output will reach approximately 4,750,550 quintales. That figure would place the country above No. 22, the position it previously held in international statistics.
The revival of coffee growing in the country follows the 2018 decision to eliminate price controls on the crop, a measure that encouraged producers to return to farming. As a result of this process, the area planted with coffee rose from 190,000 hectares to 230,000 hectares nationwide.
On the commercial front, the Venezuelan coffee sector maintains export operations to 21 countries, while it pushes initiatives to consolidate protected zones aimed at specialty coffee production, such as the pending process in Portuguesa state.
