Venezuela and Peru move forward on restoring relations

Venezuela's minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia González, met on Thursday with Peru's foreign minister, Carlos Espá, in New York City, according to the Mppre. The meeting took place within the framework of the process to restore bilateral relations between the two nations and during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two officials reviewed progress on the exchange of consuls general between Caracas and Lima, a key step in ensuring assistance for nationals residing in both countries. Normalizing diplomatic and consular channels is essential to facilitate immigration procedures and provide certainty for human mobility in the region.
